Blue

Original title: Bleu

Bark collage on canvas. Relief and collage expressed in a nocturnal, aquatic register. Deep midnight blue reigns. A fully immersive canvas with a courageous monochrome: everything is in blues, and yet it never becomes uniform. The nuances of cyan, night, violet and dark green create a real depth; the fragments in relief fall like rain or rise like seaweed, creating a very poetic ambiguity between above and below. The texture of the background (organic circles, irregular matter) evokes the surface of water or a rock wall; the dark blocks at the bottom anchor the whole firmly, like underwater rocks; the discreet red accent on the right – tiny – saves the composition from monotony.
